Poplar wood is a fast growing sustainable hardwood that grows in abundance here in North American, and it performs exceptionally well with water and moisture exposure. Poplar wood varies in color from white cream to light minty green as depicted in both extremes in the first picture.
Red alder is also a fast growing sustainable hardwood that has a beautiful soft red wood grain nearly identical to American cherry.
This soap dish has minimal surface area to minimize the sticking of the soap. The wide angled channels allows the water to quickly drain for the soap, extending the life of the soap. This not only allows your soap to dry quicker and extending life to the soap, but it also extends the life of the soap dish.

a soap dish significantly extends the life of a bar of soap - but did you know that you can also extend the life of your soap dish? Use your soap dishes in pairs to extend the life of the dish - use one dish for 2-3 weeks, and then switch it out with the second dish while allowing the first dish to completely dry out while you are using the second dish for 2-3 weeks. Doing this will prevent mold and mildew from developing and growing on your dish and greatly extend the life of the dish.
Soap makers, here are 3 simple proven ways to increase your sales
1 Use an inexpensive soap dish (thin aromatic Spanish cedar soap dish .99 cents each) as an incentive to encourage your customers to purchas e multiple products from you. For example – Buy 4 bars of soap and get a FREE aromatic Spanish cedar soap dish. This has been a proven sells strategy of a soap maker who has seen the sales of soap increase significantly.
2 recommend my care instructions to your customers. Not only do my care instructions extend the life of a wood soap dish, but soap makers who have shared this suggestion with their customers have seen their soap dish sales nearly double as most customers purchase at least two at a time.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
a soap dish significantly extends the life of a bar of soap - but did you know that you can also extend the life of your soap dish? Use your soap dishes in pairs to extend the life of the dish - use one dish for 2-3 weeks, and then wipe it clean with a damp cloth and set aside to allow it to fully dry out. Use the 2nd dish for 2-3 weeks while the first dish is drying out. Alternating wood soap dishes this way will prevent mold and mildew from developing and growing on your dish and greatly extend the life of the dish.
3 If you are selling or giving away my inexpensive thin dishes, also try offering a higher end more luxurious soap dish as an option for your customers. I have one soap maker who purchases both the thin aromatic Spanish cedar soap dish for .99 cents each as well as the Luxurious reclaimed wood soap dish for $2.20 each. This particular customer resells the thin dish for $2.99 at a profit of $2 and resells the reclaimed wood dish for $6.99 at a profit of $4.79. He sells about 500 of each in a year at a total annual profit of $3,375... or $281.25/mo....that's a car payment just from selling soap dishes!
